Breaking the Cycle of Gang Recruitment, 2/16
The PBSO Lake Worth Community Policing/Street Crimes Unit organized a pizza party/race day/graduation to conclude the 2015-16 Breaking the Cycle of Gang Recruitment program at South Grade Elementary School. A total of 19 students each completed a Lego model car, compliments of LEGOLAND, over the course of a 12 week class. The students were treated to a pizza party, and then they started racing their vehicles down a wooden ramp they painted in South Grade Elementary colors. The students were also issued a certificate of completion.
On 02/11/16, thanks to a grant from the Sheriff’s Foundation, the Lake Worth Community Policing/Street Crimes Unit took all the kids on a field trip to LEGOLAND in Winter Haven. The students took part in a fun-filled day at the park with complimentary admission tickets from LEGOLAND. Most of these kids had never been to a theme park, and they truly enjoyed the experience. The students have bonded with the deputies and have learned that there are many opportunities outside of gangs. |
